A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST
1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).
I grow roses. I lived and worked as a waitress in a castle in Ireland and it had a beautiful rose garden. I cut roses every morning and put them in vases in the dining room. So I try to emulate that memory wherever I go. I write poetry and short stories. I bake bread.
2. Why do you make art?
I make art because I was born that way. It is God's will. An amazing thing is to be able to escape reality in a healthy way. I use my art to make political statements. (Sometimes)
3. What inspires you?
Life in general inspires me to make art. I love to record everything around me. I am a plein air artist for this reason. It makes people happy and I make a lot of friends when I paint at my easel in the streets. Sleeping men inspire me to make art. It's fun to paint them when they let their guard down.
4. What/who are your influences?
I am obsessed with the paper dress artist Isabelle de Borchgrave. I admire her work immensely. She has a team of artists working with her to create her dresses. I love the history of costume and art. She fuses both worlds and can relate to all levels of the public.
5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?
I would love to meet the artist Vincent Van Gogh. He was true in his suffering, and that suffering transformed into perfection.
